Is it possible to install Unreal Engine to a NAS Drive?

Apparently downloading UE to a home NAS drive isn’t possible? When I put the install location to my NAS drive, it just installs to my C: drive instead. I did attempt to workaround this by installing to a normal drive, pasting everything to the NAS, then changing the “launcherinstalled.dat” file to the new path, but that didn’t work.

Is it just impossible to do this normally then? Will I have to rely on symbolic links if that can even be done with a NAS?

Hi @Primal_Instinct , welcome to the forums.
From my experience: I would recommend to use an SSD for the installation. From my personal experience, this was a huge improvement over my installation on a HDD. The HDD installation suffered from performance issues at least in my case.

So, even if you manage to get the installation up and running on a Network Drive, this should be a really, really powerful one in terms of IOPS and Bandwidth, being able to keep up with SSD like performance. Personally, I doubt, that this is a good idea.
