Is it possible to swap the fortnite character with a different character imported from blender?
Or does Epic not allow changes done the the playable characters appearance?

Nope, and I wouldn’t expect it to happen any time soon, if ever.
It’s a bit of a letdown, and I’m HOPEFUL that we will get the capability to easily define our own “player character prop” for receiving input, but giving Creators the ability to hide a player’s skin is not something that goes well with the Fortnite brand.
Maybe this will change one day. Maybe they will give us a “restricted” alternative, that forces us to e.g. show the player avatar on other players screens, kind of like a bar at the top (and players could still emote and all that, it would just be restricted to a little box on the HUD showing player stats for e.g.).
But yeah, player skins are important - Epic is probably quite protective of everything surrounding the skin economy. Which makes sense, as a F2P game. Also because it’s becoming it’s own metaverse. As an aside, they’ll probably start letting people build their own original characters with outfit parts one day so who knows!

We may not ever be able to do that, but more likely we will eventually be able to attach things to it like static meshes to bones for armor and such.
