Is it not possible to record animation on a Metahuman, if the Metahuman has already been added to Sequencer?

Hi,

I’m using LiveLink to record some face animations for a Metahuman. Everything works
as expected so long as the Metahuman isn’t added to Sequencer yet.

What I am trying to do is transform/move the character along the y axis from -300 to +300. And the character is added to sequencer and the transform happens in sequencer.

What I would like to do is have the character animated as the transform is occurring.

But it seems that once added to Sequencer , when pressing the green play button, or the sequencer play button, the character is no longer responsive to live link.

Thanks.

Hello @jmgold07
what do you want? to record facial using live link?

In this case what I did is to record just facial, save animation and then import in the main sequence:

same in here:

So yeah, I have a Level setup with environment and Sequencer setup with Metahumans and cameras and the Metahumans are walking - they have a walk cycle attached to the body. I would like to add face animations to the Metahumans while they walk. The problem I find is that while I can do it outside of sequencer like you suggest, and then attach it after, it’s not so easy to get the timing correct of the face animations eg if the Metahumans look at each other - it’s difficult to match up correctly.

But yeah will just do it as you suggest. Thanks

well this is going to happen unless you capture both at same time, body and face

but I think this is not a problem… just adjust a bit,

In the beginning, I did motion capture but is complicated… and you need to do a lot of things to clean and synchronize, do a loop is crazy…

Yeah. I’m no expert but I kind of feel like it would make sense to be able to record with Take Recorder - while sequencer is actually playing. So that you could record animation on characters, etc. while your scene is playing - rather than having to do the recording isolated outside of sequencer, when you don’t know frame counts, etc - and then add it later. I think I’ve sorted out a work around for the time being. Thx

I’m quite sure is possible to play and record, yes.

But to play the animation in the body and record at same time the face when the metahuman is moving trying that some real person synchronizes the beat of the heart walking and breathing.

Seriously makes no sense at all, not even try… Results are going to be like our beloved Sloth

My solution is easy, quick and looks so cool

The best one is to capture at same time body and face

And sure at this point you still thinking I have no idea, because in your mind is perfect :joy:

I understand you need to try and see by yourself
I do exactly the same!
