Is it normal to have high cpu usage even in extremely simple scene?

Hi Im very new to the UE, I wanted to jump into UE5 for a long time and ive been procastinating it because of this issue.
I have googled it so much but couldnt find a right answer.

Basically i have scene with almost nothing in it. I just have a default floor static mesh.
but i can see my CPU is almost 50% utilised. I am not new to CG in general I have worked with many DCCs interms of CG but this is my first time trying a game engine.
I have never seen any of the DCCs such as Houdini, Blenders, etc uses this much of CPU with an empty scene.

Is this normal in UE to have almost 50% cpu usage without anything on the scene?

If it is abnormal how do i avoid this.

Kindly help, this will really help me to get started.

Thanks!

I think it’s pretty normal. I’ve got CPU 30% and GPU 100%, and I’m not doing anything much at all

Something you can do, is click once on the viewport and then hit CTRL+R ( toggle realtime ). That means the system won’t do any work unless you change something. Much less heavy.
