I‘m going to build Persons with the METAHUMAN Program of the UnrealEngine 5 System. They will be totally build by myself, the complete look, and not copied from EpicGames.
I want to use them animated in a shortfilm. So … can I do this without have consequences by EpicGames because they own the Characters? It is an OpenSources Program right?!
Thanks!
Here’s the EULA on Metahumans:
In summary, there’s no consequences to be feared by using any characters;
They are not “yours” as a bought object, but they are licensed to you by Epic in a “non-exclusive, fully-paid, royalty-free, and revocable” manner,
So I need to produce that Animation Film for a client. Can my client (a company) use and show that Film where my Characters I bulit with METAHUMAN are in it?
Hey @WENDEVARGA! Yes they can use and show that film. However, they should read the EULA as they’ll also be subject to it. Basically if they want to do anything other than SHOW the film. It’s pretty forgiving and allows a lot but a company needs to keep abreast of any possible liabilities.
