I think a link to videos would be preferred; as long as the video is of the prototype using UE4.
Cheers,

Hey I wanted to hop in and let y’all know how things are going on our end.
We’re still rolling through the submissions as they come in, though there will always be a little lag from when you submit until it’s reviewed. We’ve had a few go out that we aren’t at liberty to discuss publicly, and should have some more on their way in the coming week or so Also, I wanted to remind that we’ll only be notifying applicants when we need more information and plan to move forward in the review process. If you submitted a while back and have had significant updates to your project, feel free to submit again with your progress! It’s always awesome to see how far projects can come in such a short time.
We’re glad that there’s been so much (so many submissions! ) interest in the program, and we can’t wait to share the latest fantastic projects that will be the next grants recipients.
Wasn’t originally planned to give people some kind of feedback on what they have to improve if they don’t get accepted? I myself have not submitted my game, but if I would I really would like to know where’s the problem and what’s the reason for you to not accept it. I know you probably get a lot of submissions which are not even a prototype or just games created in one or two days, but you could just ignore these and give feedback to the ones who are good, but just not good enough to receive a dev
Thanks for the suggestion, . Unfortunately, providing feedback to even a fraction of the applications is something we can commit to due to the very large number of great, qualifying projects that come in. We wish that we the bandwidth to provide meaningful responses to all that qualify, it’s just not feasible given the number of submissions. We knew this would be the case when launching the program due to seeing new, awesome projects pretty much every day from the forums, reddit, , etc. and have tried to be as explicit as we could be about it from the get go. We hope understands the situation!
Thanks again.
just for the records.
We submit our game the 25 of june, at this point the PDF with details hasn’t been downloaded and the apk prototype neither.
so:
option 1, the most probably, too many applications, so two weeks aren’t enough for getting a review.
option 2, (based only in my imagination) they only give a quick read to the submit form and discard.
Did you get any confirmation email? We submitted back in april, got a confirmation mail. Though, server says: nothing has been downloaded yet.
I’m curious if there are that many great qualifying projects how do you choose among them?
Do you look at every project that comes in? It seems some haven’t been looked at. Do you look at them in the order they are received?
I submitted my entry on April 7th, never got a confirmation email. Should i be worried ? It seems there are a metric butt ton of applicants.
how many libraries of congress would that be?
well, yes, you should be worried, i guess? there was a mixup with email adresses. go check where you sent it to. we sent it to and we got a confirmation email from a zendesk system with a tracking number.
It is interesting. There is no tracking number in my confirmation email )))
I don’t have tracking number as well. Maybe tracking number feature was added couple of weeks ago. Will email again in couple of weeks.
yes we get a confirmation email, and there isn’t any track number … we send the submission in the form page, not in the email,
well, maybe someone from Epic can shed some light… it seems like new submissions only go through the web form. there’s no email address mentioned anymore.
what about the old emails? what about mails that got a tracking number reply? what about those mails that didn’t? should people just resubmit via the web form?
Hi Epic,
a little doubt about the " funds", after a publish the project and start to sell the project, i until need to pay the royalties of 5% per quarter? how did how this part?
is any contract or proposal to do the project ?
regards
Ricardo Walter
Prize money is exempt from royalties*. Additional revenue you make after the project is sold would have royalties (assuming you cross the $3000/quarter threshold) due but nothing would ever be due on the .
Cheers,
Asking Epic to give feedback is naive and anyone reasonable would see that feedback would increase the queue time immensely.
If your project’s future solely depends on getting a from Epic, you started in the wrong direction. Apply for a , do not count on getting a . Continue working on your project and use the to speed up the development process and refine the final product. Don’t let your project fall because you never got a reply from Epic, that is simply not a reality.
Edit:no need for that now
Hey all, I wanted to clear up some of the confusion regarding tracking numbers -
A number of submissions shortly after GDC received our customer service response with a tracking number. This was the bug that I mentioned here, and should be ignored. If you didn’t get a tracking number on yours, rest assured! It’s in the queue and the team will get to them as we can We’re always going to be a little behind unfortunately, but we’re catching up!
Now to some questions!
The email address was set up as a quick solution for us to start taking applications. We had always planned to have a form, but didn’t prioritize getting it up before launch. Now we’ve changed it over.
These are the ones mentioned above. We still received the submission, but the applicants in a short timeframe got a confusing response. It didn’t impact anything on our end though!
All submissions past a time shortly after GDC should have received the response mentioned in the link above.
I’d encourage any project that has made significant project since the last submission to resubmit for us to take a look at. Not from a technical or clerical perspective on our end, but so we have the latest info about your project!
The program is based on merit. We’re looking for outstanding things being done with the Unreal Engine and outstanding developers doing them! We don’t necessarily draw comparisons - if 50 projects blow our , 50 projects get grants.
Yep! All qualifying projects get discussed with a number of staff here at Epic HQ.
In nearly all cases. There have been a few that have been held off per the submitter’s request, or when we’ve had to reach out for more information on a potential recipient, but the normal workflow for us is to go in the order they’re received.
Hope that helps! Keep sending over your awesome work
