Introducing Cubity: big 3D asset management and optimization software

Cubity is a 3D asset management and optimization software that we created to help companies in the Manufacturing, Automotive, Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industries save time when preparing content for 3D visualization. By streamlining the content preparation pipeline, Cubity saves time, reduces error and increases productivity. This means more time to focus on what’s important - the accuracy and beauty of 3D visualizations.

**What is Cubity **

Cubity is a stand-alone software that helps prepare large and complex 3D design files for real-time visualization. Cubity’s features automate manual tasks such as instancing, removing duplicate objects and managing BIM and metadata. With Cubity you can reduce file size and save time when preparing 3D content for real-time visualization.

**Get access to Cubity **

Cubity is now in open beta and available for download!

Key features:

  • Instantly detect duplicate assets
  • Auto instantiation, duplicate assets are instanced in seconds
  • Hierarchy standardization, file hierarchy is kept secure and parent-child relationships are maintained
  • Export as a Uasset for Unreal Studio, or as FBX or 3DS for further editing in other 3d packages
  • Datasmith compatible, Cubity was designed for easy integration with Datasmith and Unreal Studio

Coming soon

  • Improved accuracy in duplicate detection for assets with same vertex counts but in different scales
  • 3D statistics to visualize the bottlenecks in your file
  • 3D preview toolset to review original design, and to visually track changes you made inside Cubity (such as deleting and instantiation)
  • Hierarchy toolset for selecting and editing large groups of assets to accelerate the optimization process
  • Material detection and preservation

Wow! It seems it’s a preprocess tool, not an alternative to Optim, isn’t it?

Cubity empowers 3D modelers by optimizing both Non-CAD and CAD files. If dealing with an FBX file, to instantiate the duplicates we don’t rely on the transformation of the assets; meaning, even if you freeze or reset transforms in 3Ds Max or Maya, Cubity calculates the transformation mathematically and replaces the duplicates with preserved rotation, orientation, scale, and transformation.

How does the duplication detection work? Is it based on names, sizes, or parents?

The software reads all the parts and counts numbers of vertecies, edges, and faces and group the identical meshes. Additionally, the software calculates the volume of each mesh to ensure the accuracy of detection. Volumetric measurement is especially beneficial when dealing with low poly identical meshes that have different scales, a case most common with architectural 3d files.
