Intro to a short film I am working on

This is a short film project that I am working on. If you are a fan of anime or the Shogun series this might be for you.

This is also my Unreal Engine for Film Makers end of class project at CG Pro . It is based on an ancient Japanese story of Kiyohime, who fell in love with a monk on a pilgrimage to a Temple in her area. She is the daughter of a wealthy hotel owner where they meet.

Over a series of days, she falls in love with him, but he leaves her to continue on with his pilgrimage. He pays a river guide not to let anyone rent a boat so he can get away. When she realizes he is not coming back, she chases him into the river and begins to drown. The monk doesn’t try to save her and in her anger becomes a dragon. The monk tries to escape to a nearby temple and ask the monks there to hide him, and they put him under a large bell.

The dragon finds him and roasts him inside of the bell. This is where my story begins. The monk had a brother who was a Samurai, but because he refused an order from his Master he was outcast and forced to live a life as a Ronin. Now that he is free, he is in search of his brother the monk.

This was created entirely in Unreal Engine 5.4. If you would be interested seeing a full episode let me know. I spent almost 9 months working on this off and on. I’m putting this out to see if there is any interest in a full 30 minute episode or a series for streaming services like Tubi or Netflix.

Hey there @NanoPixel,

Hope you’re well and having a wonderful week so far

Just wanted to hop in and say this is genuinely breathtaking from beginning to end. The environment is stunning, the dialogue is engaging, and the “Shogun” genre has me hooked. I can’t wait to see the full film

Thank you! I’m working as hard as I can to finish this. I love the Shogun series as well. That’s what motivated me to create this.

Any anime in particular? AOT pulled me in and never let go :joy:

It’s funny you say that, I’ve been binge watching the Blue Eyed Samurai and Rurouni Kenshin on Netflix. The live action and the animated series. They have the best fight scenes ever. I watch that to get idea on how to setup up my own fight scene and camera angles.

That’s actually kind of brilliant. The creators of those series are kind of geniuses at that sort of thing. Demon Slayer is an anime that comes to mind for really intense fight scenes if you haven’t taken a gander at that yet  Anywho, happy developing! I can’t wait to see the full film
