Interaction with your development community, step it up please!

Epic,

We love Unreal Engine but I can say that on the support, interaction with your community, and documentation you are lacking. It would be nice to have some dedicated individuals to represent your development team who are consistently active with the community. It is rare to get any official response from epic on these forums.

  1. Please hire some evangelists to help answer questions as official representatives of unreal development.

  2. Roadmaps. Please publish roadmaps for future releases. We need to know what is going on. It has long been a problem with your development team that you add and remove features from Unreal without any real communication with your developers. Manage our expectations, this makes life easier for all. What’s happening in 5.2? No one really knows unless you want to go through the source code.

  3. Documentation. Please have some people really improve your api documentation. Add explanations of the functions, why you should use them, when, and code examples in BP, C++, and Python. As developers we spend hours trying to figure things out because of the lack of great api docs and examples.

  4. Feature requests. Feature requests should not be in the forum, it is hard to track what has been requested and the status of that request. Use something like UserVoice. In this way we can see only feature requests, see the number of users voting for that feature and the status, see if you have accepted that as a new feature, the status of that feature, or rejected and why.

You are a multi billion dollar company and growing, last check 32 billion with expected revenue of 7.2 billion. Please step it up, spend the money, and make your developers happier. By helping your developers you help Epic grow and be more profitable.

Thanks,
Dan
