Hello Epic Games Community,
I wanted to open up a discussion regarding a growing issue within the Marketplace and suggest some potential solutions. As an avid user and supporter of the assets available on the Epic Marketplace, I’ve noticed an increasingly problematic trend where the review and question sections of assets are being inundated with comments related to Discord verification. This not only clutters the space meant for genuine feedback and inquiries but also hinders the overall user experience.
Issues at Hand:
- Spammy Verification Requests: The question sections of assets are being overwhelmed by Discord verification comments. I have also seen this happen in the review sections of a handful of marketplace assets.
- Conditional Support: Asset creators are often refusing to provide support unless proof of purchase is provided, typically via Discord.
- Need for a Solution: There is a pressing need for Epic Games to devise a more streamlined, less intrusive method of verifying purchases for support.
Potential Solutions:
- Integrated Verification System: Similar to how Steam integrates with Discord to display game ownership, Epic could implement a system where a user’s purchase history is linked to their Discord account. This would allow asset creators to verify ownership directly through Discord without the need for additional, spammy messages.
- Official Epic Verification Bot: Create an official Epic Games bot for Discord. This bot could be invited to asset creators’ servers and be used to verify purchase details directly. Users could interact with the bot in a private message, reducing the clutter in public channels.
- Marketplace Support Tickets: Develop a support ticket system within the Marketplace itself. Users can submit their queries and proof of purchase directly through the Epic platform. This centralizes support and minimizes the need to use external platforms for basic assistance.
I believe addressing this issue will significantly enhance the Marketplace experience for both creators and consumers. I would like to hear thoughts from the community and the Epic Games team on this matter.
Thank you for your attention and looking forward to a discussion.
