Installing UE5 causing blue screen WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR

Hey there,

I’m trying to install UE5. I’ve completed the download, but once it starts installing it consistently gets halfway then BSOD’s citing: WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR.

I’ve got a new build, on a fresh install of windows. Not sure what my next move is, would appreciate any help, thanks.

Welcome to the Unreal Engine Community Forum! The error you’re running into can be caused by a very wide range of things. It can sometimes be hardware such as SSD’s, RAM, incompatible parts, etc. It can also be caused by something as simple as Overclocking or something as problematic as voltage issues or overheating. The most common thing I see on this type of issue is corrupt files. Sometimes it’s GPU files(I usually use DDU to completely uninstall drivers and reinstall them myself). Sometimes it’s corrupted Windows files and/or registry files.

With you being on a fresh machine and installation of Windows, I’d say you’re probably having issues with software/drivers. I’d start with the GPU drivers from scratch. If it continues I’d recommend looking into running ‘CHKDSK’ and attempting to repair Windows files(You’ll have to Google that one as it falls outside of my jurisdiction).

Basically playing process of elimination with everything I listed there is the way I’d go. You’ll likely find the problem with one of them. I hope that helps provide some insight on the issue and a path for a solution! I’ll monitor the thread for responses. Hopefully it gets resolved! Thanks!

Running DDU and reinstalling my GPU drivers seems to have worked. Finally got UE5 installed and running. Thanks a lot!

Heyy! That’s awesome! I’m glad we got it fixed. Have a good day!
