Install issues with Datasmith 5.6 Plugin for Sketchup 2025

I cant get past the following window during installation. This is from running the Plugin Installer file downloaded from Epic. The Installer is searching for an installation package that is not the one that was directly downloaded.

You can see I’m installing version 5.6 so I don’t understand why its even looking for an installation package for a previous version.

The file path is the correct one but the package name, or .msi file its looking is missing.

Can someone help me understand what I’m missing to install the plugin.

I have the same trouble with the Archicad plugin: I cannot intall due the lack of the previus 5.5.2 version. Where is the repository of old plugin?

I have the same issue, why is there still no update on this plugin? 2025 is almost over..

Hi @EskoePrime,

That error occurs when you had a previous version of the SketchUp Datasmith plugin installed, in this case the 5.2 version, and it wasn’t completely uninstalled, leaving behind some leftover files.

To fix this, you can download and re-install the old version of the plugin. Once it has been reinstalled, you can then uninstall it through Windows, which should remove all of the files this time if the process isn’t interrupted. After that, you should be able to isntall the newer ersion of the plugin.

You can find the 5.2 SketchUp Datasmith plugin at https://unrealstudio.epicgames.com/UnrealDatasmithSketchUpExporter_5_2.msi

For anyone else experiencing this problem with a different version of the plugin, all plugin download links follow the same format. Simply replace the DCC tool name and version number to the appropriate one you need.

If you’re comfortable navigating the Registry, you can locate and delete the previous version directly—avoiding the need to reinstall unnecessary files. However, it’s critical to confirm that all remnants of the previous version have been fully removed. Incomplete uninstalls can lead to serious conflicts, including registry corruption, failed installations, or persistent system errors.
