Install Failed - Could not download patch data

Hi,
I have this problem at 40 - 45% download, in-between there are some success resuming downloads, but then it seems stuck at 45%. I’ve tried everything : turning off antivirus, adding timeout value in DefaultEngine.ini, restarting everything, change DNS, nothing works.

Windows 8.1, Core i7, GTX 680, download at ~400 Kbps

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Adre,

I’m sorry you are having this issue. This seems similar to what several other users are reporting. Our developers are investigating the issue and we will post back here with updates as we have them.

In the meantime, could you follow the steps in this section of the guide to generate your Debug Logs? Then post them here.

Thank you for replying. I have already attached the log file at the question above, following the steps.

Isn’t that the file? The “show launcher log” opened the folder containing that file (at the topmost sorted by date modified), then I place it in that zip file.

If you mean the whole logs, there are 40 logs in that folder, with total 92MB. I guess the launcher storing logs with or without “Enable debug logging”. (?)

Can you confirm that you are not behind a proxy or firewall and have also tried using the wininet command?

Proxy set to “Automatically detect settings”

Windows Firewall was turned off

Tried wininet command just now

Still got the same “Could not download patch data”

will upgrading to faster internet connection help? I’m considering to do so. But if it won’t, I wouldn’t do it.

It certainly couldn’t hurt but I’d wait till we narrow down the cause of this issue before spending money :slight_smile: We are looking into you logs to narrow this down for you. We’ll post back here when we have any new information.

We have a potential fix coming out tomorrow for users who are having issues downloading the engine. After downloading the launcher update tomorrow, please let us know if you’re fixed or are still having problems downloading.

Hi Maximus, I have already downloaded the new launcher and looking good, now at 62%.
No problem at resume.

I have to shut down my computer tonight, will continue tomorrow.
I’ll let you know when it’s successfully downloaded 100%.

Did the installation finish for you?

Now at 80% and still downloading.
I have to quit and resume because the bandwidth doesn’t allow me to browse the internet while downloading the installer.
