The inspection tool seems to have quite a lot of potential.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to figure it out so far.
What do the lines between cameras mean and what signifies the difference in colour?
Also, could you give a brief (but more detailed than the info pop-ups) summary of the info/options in the corresponding menu?

Inspection is a pretty powerful tool for verifying where to add images, what are good and weak points of the scene.
For example, when inspecting aerial and street level photos, lasers & photos, closing loops, you can easily verify whether cameras are connected.

Panel settings defines/filters edges between cameras which you see, e.g., two cameras are connected if they have at least 100 matches in common such that those matches are visible in at least 5 cameras (consistency). The edge color is blue-to-red indicating how strong the edge is - more features, more red. But this is sort of normalize to see the best/weak easily.
Connected cameras form a virtual component - each component has a different color. Every two different components have less than (component connectivity) edges in-between. This way you can directly see an octopus legs in different colors.

The inspection tool seems to color the lines according to relative values of matches, meaning lowest blue, highest red.
So far, so good.
Ist there any way to define an absolute range, say all above 10000 should be red.
If I set this value now, all the lines representing more than 10000 are not displayed any more… 
Also, is it possible to select a certain image and have the connected images displayed?

you cannot customize the colours used for the Inspection Tool for yourself.
You can use the Show Matches option - for more information click on the Show Matches tile at the bottom of the Alingment Quality tutorial.

the colors are fine, I don’t want to mess with those!
What I meant is that you have to set the maximum and minimum values yourself, without knowing what the real range is.
That means in my case that many connections are blue and only a few pink - so that means a lot of the color range is wasted.
I guess what I would like is that the inspection tool determines max and min count by itself within the group of selected cameras and distributes the colours within this range.
I know the mathces feature already. What I mant though is that you select one camera and it shows you only the connected ones like in the inspection tools…
