I just released my indie game on Steam, and I have a streamer who was planning to play the game today, but they’ve discovered a bug that I have NO IDEA how to troubleshoot.
This video shows what’s happening:
From what I can gather, the keys that are causing the game to hang are the InputAxis bindings. Also strange is the audio is playing without issue. So the game doesn’t appear to be freezing so much as it’s killing the frame rate. They said the issue happens whether the controller is turned on or not.
Sorry, UE4.27. I’m not doing anything special with the input bindings. They’re just normal through the project settings.
So we’ve discovered this is also happening for them in Amid Evil as well. Another Unreal engine 4 game.
No one else has mentioned this issue for my game. First I’ve heard of it. But, apparently it was happening in Cyberpunk for a few people as well after the 2.0 patch, but CDP fixed it. Something to do with the keyboard being detected AS a gamepad?
I asked them about Xpadder or any other similar software. Nothing like that installed. We’ve tried disabling all of the gamepad related options in Steam and running the game with the -nogamepad launch option. Still keeps happening. I’ve only found one other incident of this happening with someone and they posted on these forums. It was happening in all UE4 games for them too.
Okay, so I got an update from the streamer and they were able to sort out the issue, so it doesn’t seem like it was an engine glitch after all even though it seemed to only affect Unreal engine games. They said it was something to do with one of the drivers for their gamepad showing that the system needed to be restarted after updating, even though they had restarted the system multiple times. Anyway, blame Logitech because they have a Logitech F310 wired gamepad.
