I would like to initiate a discussion regarding the infinite freezing issue I’m encountering with Unreal Engine 5. Lately, I have noticed that my project in Unreal Engine 5 is experiencing an indefinite freezing problem. When checking the Task Manager, it displays the message that the process is not responding and remains in this state indefinitely.
I have already tried various solutions, such as optimizing my project, updating system and Unreal Engine 5 drivers, but the freezing issue persists. I am seeking advice and suggestions on how to resolve this specific problem.
I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced a similar infinite freezing issue in Unreal Engine 5 and if there are any known solutions or troubleshooting steps that can help identify and resolve the root cause of this problem.
If you have any suggestions, insights, or potential solutions for this infinite freezing issue, please share them in this discussion. I greatly appreciate any help or advice you can provide to assist me in resolving this problem and continuing to work on my project in Unreal Engine 5 without interruptions.
Happening to me too and I’m using a level with a minimum of assets, just a landscape, rvts to cap, and heightmesh.
My process has time on the CPU and the memory-pile changes over time which indicates it’s actually working on something, but I’ve waited ~10min a few times to make sure it’s not me.
It’s not, it’s the app. Just randomly freezes when I am dragging the viewport around the level…
This post suggests it’s a driver issue with 53x version game-ready drivers. They rolled back to 528.49 Studio Drivers and reported no more hangs. ref - UE 5.2 Editor freezing with DX12
I tried 528.02 Game Ready drivers since I would prefer those, but it still hanged. Will try around with various drivers to see if I can pin it down…
Also to note, this is a relatively new thing. My drivers haven’t been updated in many months (stable config!), only UE 5.2 has been patched most-recently…
