Incredibly low framerate HTML5

hello, built from master (says its 4.8) to try html5 packaging from the editor.
play in editor i get around 25 fps (yes my system is rubbish)
but html5 i get between 1 and 5 fps.

why does html5 run so slow? is there anything i can do to speed it up?

it has no post processing but is quite heavy on physics.
heres a link html5test

thanks

Hey tegleg,

It may just be your system? Your test ran at a solid 60fps for me in Chrome but I do have a high end system. I can only suggest dropping some of the physics and see what that does to performance. HTML5 is run through a VM so it’s not going to match native C++ performance :frowning:

its the same with no physics objects so its not that. i would have expected it to run slightly better than in the editor if anything. it even runs faster on android than html5.

just tried it in chrome and i get the same fps as in the editor. should firefox really be the recommended browser?

stock firefox

Are you using Firefox Nightly or “stock” Firefox?

WebGL is a lot slower in Firefox then Chrome as well as JS is slower on firefox too (atleast at time i was interested in HTML5 and WebGL)

In my experience, Firefox has been the more stable browser. Admittedly, I use nightly more than stock. If you’re a non-windows machine, chrome becomes more usable/stable.

Hi tegleg,

Are you still seeing this issue in the 4.8 preview 1 that was released yesterday?

Thanks!

i will give it a try and let you know. cheers

Hello tegleg,

Thank you very much for you patience and consideration while awaiting an answer on this issue.

1.) Were you able to increase the frame rate in a newer version of the engine?
2.) Are you still having this issue?
3.) HTML5 is rather expensive. Could you link me your DxDiag?

Again, thank you very much for your patience.
