Inconsistent Tab Placement in Unreal Editor is Driving Me NUTS! Plese have mercy!

I’ve had enough of Unreal Editor randomly opening new tabs on different screens. Sometimes it even minimizes to just the tab name and dropdown menu, hidden in some corner of my desktop (which is incredibly frustrating when I lower my resolution and the tab opens outside the screen space). What’s worse is that there’s no consistent behavior in the editor. I can’t figure out whether it opens new tabs on the focused window, the window I used to open the tab, or next to the most recent tab. And I can’t find any editor setting to limit new tabs to the first window or control this at all.

Please fix it. I only have two monitors, but with three it would be even more annoying. It’s starting to feel like those old pop-up ads that open underneath everything.

PS: Has anyone found any options or solutions to limit this randomness? Is there any way to control where new tabs open, and lower my cortisol to a manageable level?

Late to the party, but in my experience, Unreal usually seems to “remember” what you did with tabs previously, and then apply this behavior to similarly classed objects/assets.

It may seem random because you may not have edited a static mesh in weeks, but that time you did, you opened a new window. Every other time since then, you’ve opened tabs (for non-static mesh classes).

Now you open the static mesh editor and it opens a new window instead.

I know this is at least partially the case, because I’ve tested it.

I NEVER get popup windows anymore unless I’m working with animations. Then it’s a few days of pop-up windows, then… no more.
