Inconsistent Brightness across Graphic Settings When Using Fog in Day Sequence Devices

When utilizing the fog setting within the day sequence device, we have observed significant discrepancies in how these adjustments render across various graphics settings. Specifically:

Low Graphics Settings: The game appears excessively bright and does not render fog.
Medium/High/Epic Graphics Settings: The game appears as intended with proper brightness levels and renders fog.

This inconsistency leads to a situation where what looks visually appealing on medium/high/epic settings becomes overly bright on low settings. This disparity affects the overall player experience, as the visual fidelity and intended atmosphere of the game are not uniformly preserved across different hardware capabilities.

Impact:

Player Experience: Players using lower graphics settings experience overly bright environments, which can be visually jarring and detract from the intended game atmosphere.
Level Design: Developers face challenges in creating visually consistent environments, as the appearance can vary drastically depending on the player’s graphics settings.
Fairness and Balance: Players on different settings may have differing levels of visibility, potentially affecting gameplay balance and fairness.

Request:

We kindly request the implementation of a solution to ensure more consistent brightness levels across all graphics settings when using custom lighting and fog devices. This could involve standardizing the way these elements are rendered or providing additional tools and settings for developers to fine-tune brightness for different graphics levels.

By addressing this issue, you would significantly enhance the ability of developers to create visually consistent and immersive environments for all players, regardless of their chosen graphics settings.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. We look forward to any updates or solutions you can provide.

I think ‘Fog’ is not being registered via the “Low Settings”.

Perhaps if ‘Fog’ could be changed to be registered via the “Low Settings” that would be cool

I’ve seen this before, when I have my settings set to “Low”, there is no Fog.
However as you’ve mentioned, when you up your settings beyond Low there is Fog.
Perhaps initializing ‘Fog’ in Low settings will fix this via Epic Games

or perhaps to solve your problem…
*Cant you force players in UEFN on your map to view [Medium → Epic] settings?
**I think I have seen this in UEFN, this setting forces players to view Medium settings for example
Lmk if I’m wrong or this helped :stuck_out_tongue:
It may just be the for viewing through UEFN, but lmk

Thank you for your feedback. While I cannot guarantee a response, I can confirm that this has been forwarded to the appropriate team.
