Incompatible Channels in Material Designer

Hi,

Woking on Mac - OSX.
Just trying to learn Motion Design for the last couple of weeks.

This question is about Material Designer..

Started very good with 5.6, but after upgrading to 5.7 yesterday I have trouble with Material Designer (this happens to all kind of objects):

After pressing Continue, I am not able to use “Base Color”:

Material Designer states that Base color is incompatible.

I suppose this is a beginner question, have tried to google, but not much to find..

Thanks, Jarle

I am having the same issue. I’m on Windows 11. Only happening in 5.7. Might have something to do with the new Substrate materials. I am unable to find a fix.

After my original post above I went into a 5.7 project and in the Project settings, I searched for Substrate and in those settings I disabled the Substrate Materials. That required a restart. I can now use Material Designer. Hopefully a fix will be made so substrate materials will work with Material Designer.

Thanks, this fixed it for me.

For me, the channels become compatible but changing value has no effect on the Material of the mesh.

Hi Lee,
Great, this fixed it for me.
The funny thing is that this happened when I was following one of your older tutorials on YT.
Thank you for the work you put into teaching
