In Modeling Mode, How do you inset all faces of a Box at once?

Hello! I am following the Modeling Mode Quick Start guide (step 4), and wanted to inset all faces of a box at once in order for the faces to be the same length’s.

However, when I try to select all faces and inset, it gives me “Cannot Inset or Outset when selection has no border.”.

I googled a fix for this, and all I really got was it telling me to disable the Individual setting (Reproject); this made no difference.

I have seen examples of this working in software like blender. (in the picture below (vid))

Please let me know if there is a way to do this, I am very new to this feature. Thanks!

Hello there @DevilPandah!

Checking around the community, it seems the tool works this way by design, or at least for the moment, as Modeling Mode is still in Beta. The Inset function requires your selection to have a boundary, and selecting all faces of the cube results in a selection with no borders, meaning the engine is unable to apply Inset like that.

In short, the function needs boundary edges, or it won’t work. So, we simply need to generate said unselected boundaries. To do that, select all edges of the cube, and implement a very tiny Bevel (set distance at 0,1), it should be barely visible in the build.

Once implemented, select the six faces of the cube manually (don’t use Select All, as you will pick the newly created borders), and now you can Inset them all at the same time.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

Oh wow, thank you so much!
