Suppose I wanted a control panel on a ship with several buttons (perhaps switches, knobs, levers, etc), that each do something. This control panel cannot be a HUD element and must be part of the physical world. Now suppose I have several of these panels in the same room for players to operate. Putting aside the gameplay limitations of using a mouse to click buttons in a 3d word, how feasible is this? I saw that UI widgets can be attached to components but is that the best solution? My panels would not be moving. I know that anything is possible but would several interactive panels require an unreasonable amount of overhead? What is the limit to the amount of complexity these controls can have?
I appreciate your input, thank you.
