In-game bug reporting cannot capture transient bugs: no text field, no file attachment, no video

I’d like to suggest an improvement to the in-game bug reporting tool, based on trying to report a real bug through it and hitting a dead end.

The tool as it works today lets you pick a category, and it attaches a screenshot taken automatically at the moment you submit. There is no free text field, no way to attach a screenshot from disk, and no way to attach a video.

That makes it structurally unable to report an entire class of bugs. My case: edit mode closes by itself in under 60 milliseconds while the edit key is still held down. I cannot trigger a report during those 60 ms, and a still screenshot taken afterwards shows nothing. So the only channel intended for bug reports physically cannot carry my bug.

And the loop closes there, because Epic Games Support told me plainly that they do not handle bug reports and that the in-game tool is the only option. Between a support team that cannot take bug reports and a tool that cannot capture transient bugs, there is no path.

Four suggestions, in order of how much they’d help:

  1. A free text field. Even 500 characters would let a player say what happened, since the automatic screenshot alone carries almost no information.
  2. The ability to attach a file from disk — an image or a short video. Most players who bother to report a bug have already recorded it.
  3. Better still: an option to attach the last 30 seconds of gameplay. The game already has replay and clip functionality, so the footage exists. “The bug just happened, send the last 30 seconds” would solve transient bugs completely.
  4. A confirmation that the report was received, ideally with a reference. Right now you submit into silence and have no idea whether anything happened.

I’m not asking for a reply on my own bug here — that’s filed separately in Issues and Bug Reporting. This is purely about the reporting tool itself.
