Improved performance full screen?

•In a windowed mode (this could be graphics card dependant) with a 780m I loose on average 20FPS or increase 5 - 10 ms latency. I noticed this from a standalone build, it was odd that entering full screen Alt+P and setting r.SetRes 1920x1080 increased performance drastically.

Version is 4.51, System is Windows 8.1 64 bit. This system is an I7 4810MQ, 780m and 16GB DDR. Drivers are latest…

Hello ShadowKindGames,

I know you just gave me your specs, but would you mind giving me your official dxdiag?

Also I am assuming you are on a laptop because the card you are using is integrated? This shouldn’t cause an issue, but sometimes laptop cards can be a bit finicky. If you are running in windowed mode, which is not the native resolution of your screen, as a standalone game this also may be the cause of your issue.

Thanks,

Hi ,

I have the DXDiag, but I’m not sure how useful it’s going to be. You can’t seem to bypass Nvidia Optimus and it only shows the in-built Intel HD GFX card. Even if you tell the 780m to be the default GPU.

Our standard office machines are GTX 780’s, so I’ll try the demo on that and see if it makes any difference.link text

It sounds like you have some motherboard communication issue with your graphics card. This could be what is causing your issue, but yes let me know if you have a different experience with the other machines in your office!

Thanks,

Hey again ShadowKindGames,

I have not heard back from you in a while and wanted to make sure your issue was not lost/forgotten. I will mark this question as resolved for tracking purposes, but if you are still experiencing this issue let us know and we will assist you further.

Thanks,

Hi ,

Had the chance to try out this issue on a new build and I asked one of the staff to bring in his laptop with a 980M. On our 780 Ti’s in the office, works fine on both Nvidia IGPU’s exact same issue. Windowed mode slows the whole thing right down, updated the graphics driver etc. made no difference.

Hey again ShadowKindGames,

Thank you for re-testing this issue again on some different devices. Would you mind giving me some reproducible steps so I can test it on my end? This way I can make an official bug report and get the issue some traction so we can get it fixed.

Thanks again,

Cook the project I sent 64 bit, on a Windows 8 platform. Alt+P quickly to stop the man falling through the floor (Fixed in 4.6). Press Alt+P again, run stat fps, set resolution to 1080P then switch between windowed and full screen mode. This has to be done on an IGPU (780m / 980m) on Nvidia’s latest drivers… Bit of an odd one sure, but I’m sure customers will mention it to us. So thanks for your assistance.

Hey again Shadow,

You said you ‘sent’ a project? I am not seeing a project sent on this post. Did I overlook something?

Thanks,

I can’t really hand out projects over the answerhub posts. I PM’d you a link… I’ll send it again just in case.

No problem. We usually prefer users to private message us on the forums. I am under the same name as the one I use here.

Thanks,
