Improve CPU or GPU for better performance ?

Hi,

I wanted to know what is best to improve computation time, espcially for high detailled reconstruction. Texture creation, unwrapping, image alignement and simplyfication are quite fast but HD reconstruction can take up to dozens of hours…

Is it best to get a fastest CPU, GPU or both for faster HD reconstruction ?

Yes, if you want to improve the reconstruction speed, then you need to improve both CPU and GPU, with the GPU you can do it easily and in a “cheap” way. But get max 3 GPUs, more than 3 to 4 GPUs will have minimal speedup ( 10 % )

Somewhat related - Titan X or GTX1080? Titan X has more Cuda cores but new Nvidia tech is on GTX1080 and price of 3 of them is same as 2 titan x cards… what’s the verdict here?

Go with the Gtx 1080, they are cooler ( temperature ) the speedup is not so great but gtx1080 are newer versions.
