I’ve been trying to import a 3ds file as a skeletal mesh. If I import it as a skeletal mesh, then the model appears in all the little pieces. And if I import it as a static mesh, then I can not use it as a skeletal mesh component. What should I do?
The blueprint class is wheeled vehicle.
Have you been following this guide: FBX Skeletal Mesh Import Pipeline just click on 3DS. Sadly, I use Maya, but I’ve never had problem importing skeletals before. Of course, I actually imported a real skeleton, not a wheeled vehicle. But reading this guide VehicleUserGuide it doesn’t seem all that different. Are they combined before you export them from 3DS? Maybe some pictures would help seeing the problem. Pics from 3DS and form the imported skeletal mesh in UE4. In this guide VehicleArtSetup it shows the steps for doing the Wheeled Vehicle itself in Maya/3DS and the export /import steps. I hope this helps!
