Importing rig and model from Maya

Please be patient with me, its my first time using Unreal. In Maya, i’ve created my model and added a rig to it. Using the FBX exporter, I’ve exported my model along with the rig. When importing to UE4, I get this error: http://i.imgur.com/Ujhd4l5.png

I’ve never rigged or used UE4 before, so any simple answers are welcome/

That seemed to help some errors. I still have some about skin: http://i.imgur.com/hssyONn.png

The rest are ok. There are is a tutorial video for importing a skeletal mesh, and the instructor states that those errors are ok.

This is the video i’m talking about. It’s Jeremy Ernst with the rigging and animation tools.

So otherwise, If there are no problems while actually using your meshes inside the editor, you are good to go.

Ok, but it just imports parts of my model, not the whole model: http://i.imgur.com/1x91fHR.png

When you import your mesh, Check the box that says Use T0 as Ref Pose under the advanced drop down arrow.

And just to be clear, you are exporting your “RIG” or your BONES? What you should export are your bones and mesh, but not the rig.

This is caused by something from the 3D program you are using to create the mesh. Something is not exporting correctly.

My advice is that for a mesh like you are doing-- I’m assuming you want the toilet lid to open and close? A simple animation like this can be done inside of the engine using either a Timeline or a Matinee.

As far as how to get it to export correctly, i can’t really help you here because I don’t know whats going on with your end.

I think this is as far as I can help you, sorry I could not solve this for you!
