importing paid assets to another engine/ also importing old school urt maps

i didnt know what section this should go in so i apologise if this belongs else were,

my question is i have paid assets for unity (meshes) and i want to import them into unreal what stops me is since this is all for my studies i dont want to break the rules and lose my unity or unreal license, so if i import them will the engine smite me and lock me out also is there a section on how the interlectual prop and copy right works since game design is going to be my future i kinda don’t want to get my self black listed in any way so i figured ide ask the unreal community on this. also i happen to own every thing urt prior to urt3 (not urt3 as in 2004-2005) so my other question for you guys is can i import stuff from the games as reference material i figured since we are a big mod community there would be no problem but it never hurts to ask also is there any thing i will have to decompile ect to load it in the engine i know this is a big ask mods and community so againe sorry…students huh

Unreal supports importing the .fbx and .obj file formats, if you have assets in those formats you can import them. As for assets from other engines, you need to make sure to go over their license agreements, they may have restrictions on the assets that any you buy from them can only be used in that engine.

As for UT, the files from past UT games are not compatible with UE4,

thnx for that viper , can i run older ut games and older games such unreal 1 and 2 in udk ? or am i alloud to reason i ask is all my study stuff on my laptop gets cheked by my tutors at uni , i always thought anything urt was alloud to be modded or viewed for research is that correct ?

The old games can be modded, but they each have their own version of the editor. Since the games and engines are very different the files aren’t compatible.

thnx againe for your time
