Importing Mixamo animations into UE5

Hey everyone,

I have downloaded a character and animation from Mixamo for use in my project.
I am aware that the Mixamo animations aren’t too friendly with the UE5 mannequin which is why I decided to just use a Mixamo model.

After importing the FBX into Unreal the animations just don’t work, they are endlessly T-posing, absolutely nothing I can do has fixed this (reimporting, redownloading, switching Mixamo models) its completely broken.

Please help, let me know if there is anything I am missing.
Thanks

Hey @AlscarB!

Have you tried retargeting your animations to your models? When the animations are being imported, what skeleton are you selecting? In the meantime, check out this non-Epic affiliated tutorial just in case any steps were missed:

Try this:
https://terribilisstudio.fr/?section=MC#close - Mixamo Converter

It contains UE4+5 Mannequins that you can upload to mixamo; then run the conversion tool. Works well, if your SKM Armatures match the UE4 or UE5 Mannequin.

Hey @AlscarB,

Checking in! Were you able to resolve your issue? Was one of the above the solution you needed?

So I have to use their odd little launcher that is apparently unsigned in order to get this magical piece of software? Not bloody happening.

I did it today and while it is odd, it is actually working making me able to get and use Mixamo animations in UE5. It’s still annoying that you need to get it via this weird launcher but there’s enough people on youtube that tried it, and you can just delete the launcher afterwards.
