Importing mesh with sub-meshes

I have a couple of fbx-objects that all consist of a body-mesh, an eyes-mesh and an eye lashes-mesh. When I import the fbx file into blender, I get seperate objects for these.
When I import the same files into UE4 I used to get body (including the eyes) and eyeleshes as seperate meshes. And right now, I only get a single mesh with both eyes and eyelashes included. I need the submeshes so I can apply different materials to them.

I tried changing the import settings (the checkbox about sub meshes…) and reimporting, but it’s still the same. Can someone explain what UE4 is doing here and why?
