Importing from blender with FBX increases polycount and smoothes mesh

Hi im new to the Unreal Enigne and im trying to import a static mesh from Blender just to see if the scale is right
but ive come across a problem i cant solve. The mesh in blender only has 984 tris, and 535 verts. But when its
importet into unreal it has 12192 tris and 8253 verts. I want to import the mesh as is as i want to make a IOS
game and keep the poly count low. I have tried experimenting with the settings and reading the documentation but
cant find a solution to this.
