Importing fbx from Zbrush messing up the orientation

Hi,

Does anyone know how to make FBX exporting and importing work without messing the orientation? I’ve tried every combination. Yes, I’m overwriting original one so it does have rcinfo.

Obj works fine, but Zbrush is messing the orientation of fbx somehow.

Thank you in advance!

Any particular reason you’re using FBX to go from Zbrush to RealityCapture?
Because of baking?

Otherwise I’d really just use OBJs.

You could probably just rotate the object inside Zbrush as well, but that’s a bit annoying of course.

Hi,

I can go with obj, I was just curious to use fbx all the way.
The reason of using fbx is cameras I export to Blender along with it to fix textures
So my workflow is as follow:

  • Scan in RC
  • Export to Zbrush to fix mesh, edges, creating UVs
  • Import to RC to retexture
  • Export FBX with cameras to Blender
  • Reprojecting/cloning missing textures on top branches in Blender
  • Exporting to Speedtree for final

is there any solutions to this?

387135291500 in my notes I have to always use obj, rather than fbx

I asked my colleague about this and he had the same problem with FBX format. It seems, that there is a bug, as FBX is Autodesk proprietary format and there could be some combability problems. For now we recommend to use OBJ format.
