Hello (new user here)
I have a collection of assets “NewAssets” in my Vault. I want them in project folder “NewAssetsFolder”.
From the launcher / library I use “Add To Project”.
Now NewAssets is in my Content folder.
1.I try to move NewAssets to NewAssetsFolder → editor crashes
2.I migrate NewAssets to NewAssetsFolder → I have the assets in 2 locations.
I use “Fix Up Redirectories” on the old folder
(only on the main folder → I dont go recursively down the entire hierarchy)
This takes about 1 second.
Then i hit delete on the old folder. This takes 37 years. At the end, it indicates that every single asset in the folder is still being referenced. I hit force delete → editor crashes
3 I have even tried renaming the folder in the OS , before adding it to the project. Unreal Launcher does not accept that.
I’m out of ideas.
You need to have the assets in your content folder, that’s what the engine is assuming. You can move them to any folder after you have installed them, but it’s still has be under your content folder.
Yes the assets are in the Content folder. But i want them in the project folder NewAssetsFolder (which is also in the Content folder)
Sorry, I’m not seeing this. What’s to stop you dragging them from one content folder view to another?
If I move them, the editor crashes, if i migrate them, it takes a year, then leaves everything in the original location because of references, and i cant remove the originals (except by using the OS and hard-deleting the files
Yeah, I’d start a clean project and NEVER move things using windows basically…
I don’t know how far in you are, but I think this is hound you forever unless you make a clean break.
Sorry, probably not what you want to hear…
