Importing animation into unreal

I have created a rig and it works in Maya2017 however when I import the rig with animation into unreal the skeleton and mesh are fine but the animation viewport shows the mesh to be scaled smaller and rotated rather than in the pose its set. The animation still runs when I bake it onto the skeleton in Maya but its facing the wrong way.

I though it was because I reference my mesh into my rig scene but I imported it in and it still doesn’t work
My mesh was in separate parts when I skinned it so I tried combining it, the skinning and controls remain unaffected but when I import it doesn’t import my bones anymore.

Someone help
