Importing 3ds Max/Maya Materials


Is it possible to some how export and import materials that have been set up in 3ds Max (or Maya) and bring them straight into UE4? I know Unreal tends to make instanced copies, but the colours are never right. I have a few simple low-poly characters I want to present, and they only use simple coloured materials. Instead of having to set them all up from scratch again, is it possible to get them imported into Unreal?


Never mind. I’ve just figured out how to do it. The mistake I keep making is not checking if my models are using Physical Materials. They don’t seem to import properly in other software. If they’re set to Standard materials, they import in no problem. :slight_smile:
