Imported images have bad color for transparent pixels

Since changing to 5.3.0, when I import a transparent PNG it now considers transparent pixels white where before the color was based on surrounding pixels. My system of materials is set up for the old way only and they now look wrong (well they are fine if I never add an image or reimport). I’m confused about why this is coming up now. Is this a bug or intended? Is there any way to fix it with settings in UE?

Hey @BCETracks

how do you create your images? Usually those PNG should show a checkerboard for transparent pixels. Did you try 32bit TGA?

It’s a normal transparent PNG it should work I should not have to save it any differently than I did in older versions of UE. The checker BG would show but remember this is about the color of the transparent pixels so I unchecked the “A” box that shows transparency for the screenshot.

Hey @BCETracks

can you share both pictures?

It doesn’t matter, read the question again, it’s the same images, it’s the version of UE that is different.

Hey @BCETracks

As an example: If I use this image in different versions of UE I get a checkerboard for transparent pixels or - if I deselect Alpha - a black color

Yes, sorry for bothering you. Good Luck
