imported animation not working

Hi guys i have a character rigged and working but when i import the character and animations from blender to unreal my animations will not work the timeline proceeds but the model does not do the walk cycle … also no matter what orientation i place the model in inside blender the resulting fbx is always lying flat on its face inside unreal .im sure that this is my fault and not a bug but i cannot figure out what im doing wrong … Has anybody else had this problem ?
