Import Vertex Color Information

We are trying to import mesh with vertex Color but its not coming through.
Does datasmith import vertex color?

Hi, at this moment, no, we don’t. We also export the 3ds max render mesh as well. We should investigate if that data is also in the 3ds max render mesh. Can you describe your use case?

I am in a similar boat, we have road assets, where we have applied a base asphalt tex and we instances version of the asphalt. We were going to export our the road mesh and vertex paint different type of road discoloration. We wanted to Vertex paint in max as we wanted a consistent look along an edge and then augment it in the Unreal editor. I can get the FBX to work like this but we would want to keep the Datasmith workflow as theses pieces placement are driven by the cad info.

Bump. This sounds important for VR to reduce pixel shader cost when all materials in the scene can be lit without texture fetches from a single material.
