I am trying to import a mesh (with textures) that wasn’t created in Reality Capture, into a new Reality Capture project, but I can’t seem to find a way to do so. The mesh is in fbx format (also available in .obj) and the textures are in jpg.
Is there a way to activate the ‘import model’ option on an empty project?
What do you plan on doing with the model once imported? Normally a model would be exported from RC then tweaked in external software, then reimported to the same project for texturing, so the cameras are all in the right positions, so this isn’t normally an issue. RC needs a component to import into. Let me know your intended workflow I might be able to suggest something.
We have a few (~6) very large 3d models and textures of a few cities that we need to decimate and retexturize. Since we use RC to create our own models from drone imagery, it would be great to keep it all within RC as it does a great job at model editing.
Please explain your workflow from beginning (images) to end (final model). You can create an almost blank component by just aligning any 2 images, and you could import a model into that, but this probably wouldn’t be the best solution for you.
For example, I used Context Capture to do photoprammetry model, but I want to import the whole tileset into RC and decimate those tiles and reproject textures
Is your model georeferenced? If so, you can import images into RealityCapture, placed control points, align the images and import model into this alignment.
But normally it is worked as Wallace wrote before.
Hi, this request is needed as often I need decimation or unwrap and my current workaround is to select 12 images from another dataset, align them just to be able to import / export geometry to reality capture.
