Hi, we were going through the documentation and forums and I couldn’t find a way to import an image sequence into rocket.
We are considering using rocked for film production and this would be a HUGE feature for us. We are basically trying to place 2d cards with the image sequence (or avi, mov video) playing on them and possibly be timed by a matinee. Any ideas?
"The TextureSampleParameterMovie expression is identical to the TextureSample except that it only accepts movie textures (Bink movies) and it is a parameter that can be modified in instances of the material and through code. "
Unfortunately, importing .bik files is not currently available and you will not be able to use them for motion graphics as Philipp suggested. At this time the editor does not have support for using .mov or .avi files as moving textures either. There are long term goals for bringing back motion graphics in a new way. At this time a work-around would be the use of a flipbook in material if it is a short animation:
Alexander, thanks I was aware of the flipbook workaround, but unfortunately it would be extremely unproductive for our needs. Can I ask why the bink was removed and not replaced by a similar alternative?
I can not discuss specific details about why it was removed at this time. We intend to include a new feature that will handle motion graphics/video, but it is not likely to be implemented very soon. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we develop the editor.
I really need this feature too! Avi for greenscreen within the engine to make use of 3d placement and post processing! Even for simpler uses its omission is a curious one. Hope you can get something into ue4 asap so I can achieve my goals, otherwise I’ll have to go back to doing it all in Max which is less productive. thanks
