"Import Control Rig FBX" doesn't import anything

Hi, I’m new to UE5 (5.2) and recently ran into an issue where when I click on “Import Control Rig FBX” on the “Face_ControlBoard_CtrlRig” in the Sequencer and try to import an FBX file, it doesn’t import anything. Note that I am exporting the Control Rig from the “Face” as an FBX file and importing it again without changing anything.

Steps to reproduce: In the Sequencer, add an animation channel to the “Face.” Right click on “Face” and select “Bake To Control Rig.”


Delete the Animation now that you don’t need it and right click on the “Face” again, select export, and export the FBX animation file.

Now, delete the “Face_ControlBoard_CtrlRig” and add a new track (Control Rig->Asset-Based Control Rig->“Face_ControlBoard_CtrlRig”) to “Face.” Now, right click on the “Face_ControlBoard_CtrlRig” and select “Import Control Rig FBX.” Import the exact same file you just exported. Click on Control Mapping Presets and select “MetaHuman Control Mappings.” Click Import.

Nothing shows up! Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

First you should carefully follow step by step of this tutorial Rigging the MetaHumans | GDC 2021 | Unreal Engine - YouTube that explain everything you need to import fbx control rig.
For me, my issue is I didn’t get enough Node Names which is need exactly one by one (401 Array elements like pic below) cause I use metahuman 5.1 face rig, it have some different names compare to metahuman 5.2 face rig.

You should have the hierarchy same as metahuman face control require (hierarchy in maya in pic below work for me)
