I’m sure this has already been asked and answered before, but I couldn’t find it - sorry!
I wish to import the content from the Landscapemountains-project into my own project, for testing and placeholder purposes of course, no reusing.
I copied the content from the abovementioned projects folder to the contentfolder of my project, the models and materials show up in the content browser, but placing a tree leaves me with a model without materials/textures. Manually applying them did not work.
In particular I want to check out the trees to learn from them and then create my own. Is there a way to export an asset with materials etc working so I can import it in my 3D package?
You can still use the drag and drop from project folder to another project folder, but if you don’t use the same folder structure the material/texture references will be lost so things will not render correctly.
Thank you very much, Tim, the Migrate feature works well!
Exporting as fbx from asset browser (rightclick on asset, asset action, export) gives me the fbx, which is great! But can I also export the materials attached to it?
Materials will not be exported. Just the geometry. A material that is created in Unreal would be useless in another program, much like materials that are created in 3DS Max or Maya cannot be brought into UE with exception of a few basic textures.
You an manually export the textures from UE to save them out as their image file type and use in another program though.
