Import Animations for Mannequin

Hello there,
I am trying to get a custom character imported into UE5, which is rigged to the UE Skeleton complete with Animations.

So far so good. When I import the Skeletal Mesh and set the Mannequin Skeleton as the import option, it all works fine and the Basic Animations of the Mannequin work great on my model.
But as soon as I import the Animations from that very same Skeletal Mesh into Unreal, it looks like the Bones are scaled and cramed into eachother.
Did anyone encounter a problem like that or has a hint what the problem might be?

Edit: So when I set the retargeting for all the bones to “Skeleton”, the bones don’t seem to scale anymore, but now the feet are floating above the ground and also sideways.
