Import 3rd party model back to RC

I’m confused about whether or not you can import a 3rd party model back into RC. I see old posts on this issue but I can’t see any way to make this happen. What am I missing?

Hi thisisdmann, the mentioned article is about importing back corrected/changed model generated in RealityCapture. So you can do it.

If you want to import model generated just in 3rd party soft, it is not that easy.

There is also another post about similar issue: https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/360010540680

Thank Ondrej. What are the steps to import though? I get errors no matter what format I attempt to import. My workflow is to model and texture in RC > export to fbx/abc/obj (depending on the project) > retopologize > export from blender > import into RC.

What button do you use to reimport a model? What formats are supported?

When you export model from RealityCapture, it also create rcInfo file. When you want to import back the corrected model, it has to have the same name as this rcInfo file. For importing you just use Import Model tool under Mesh Model tab/Import

Supported formats:

If you move/rotate/scale the object meanwhile (either in RC or in the other software), the model will not fit correctly after importing.

OK, I’ve got it now. I have the rcinfo files but for some reason, it only works with my FBX files (no obj) but I can work with that. Cheers!
