Easy to implement, performance-focused surface and water interaction. Advanced Environment Interaction is a comprehensive toolset for generating real-time interaction data for surface deformation and water simulation. It allows characters, vehicles, physics objects, and any other actor traces to leave persistent, blended interaction data such as footprints, tire tracks, and water ripples without relying on expensive per-frame decals or mesh modifications.

Designed with performance as a core goal, Advanced Environment Interaction is built around scalable GPU-driven render targets and Niagara simulation without using scene captures or other expensive methods. This approach enables complex interaction effects at a fraction of the cost of traditional scene capture, CPU-bound or decal-heavy systems and is easily controlled through scalability settings. Interaction scales across multiple actors, massive open worlds, and fast-moving objects while maintaining minimal per-frame cost.

The modular, component-based design is easy to incorporate into any project, with any performance target, and can easily be expanded on for additional features. Supports nanite, virtual heightfield meshes, or simple flat surface normals. Scalability integration allows for flexible tuning on different platforms, adjusting the render distance and resolution for different platforms or outright disabling for low-end systems.

Easy to integrate into any project, interaction can be added simply by adding the Interaction Component to the player controller and then adding any traces you want to draw. Manual trace mode allows the interaction to be driven by events already in the project like foot IKs to further optimize the performance of the system. Trace data sent to the GPU is so small that hundreds of prints can occur in one frame without significantly effecting frame times.
