Is there a way to tell RC to ignore part of a photo?
Sorry if this has already been answered, but I can’t search the forum for “image masking” because it’s “too common.”

Hi Aaron Curtis
For now the masking is NOT used only in the ALIGNMENT step, in all other parts it can be used but is not needed as we calculate “mask” anyway…
Why do you need to use them, can you make some screenshots of the use case ?
Well, I have people standing around in my cave (see attached screenshot, bottom right cell). Sometimes they are in multiple images and I worry features on them might match if they haven’t moved very much. For now, I’m able to ignore these images so it’s not a big deal.
Hi Aaron Curtis
can you PM me at milos.lukac@capturingreality.com for discussion ?
It’s about proper workflows on data capture to avoid this sort of situations, if the people are moving it’s not such a “big” issue, as RC can overcome this with, as I am saying, proper workflows.
Hi. I’ve got a similar people problem and lots of vegetation really hindering my reality capture app and obstructing parts of the building I’m trying to scan. Is there a way let’s say to manually select green color of certain range taken from the picture to be ignored by the algorithm?
Hi Vlad Moldovan
No it’s not possible… Try getting more images and overlap, it should help ( “reasonable” grass/tree cover ).
