Ignoring first in-editor tutorial bubble causes crash

github build 4.8 (as of 10th June)

Reproduction steps:

* Ignore the “welcome to ue4/click here to get started” bubble that appears the very first time you open the editor.

* Open another window that has a tutorial (such as creating a blueprint)

* See the distracting green flashing icon and try to squish it!

* Crash the editor :<

If you close the welcome tutorial bubble first then the crash does not occur. (I crashed the editor a few times in quick succession using the above steps, but not sure how to reset the tutorial system to check that this is definitely the cause).

I guess it’s a very minor bug, especially now that tutorial progress appears to be saved across projects, but not sure if it had any implications that might cause the Tutsys to cause other crashes.

Edit: using *'s to create lists in answerhub posts seems to be bugged as well :<

Hey MrBushido,

Thank you for providing us with this information. I have obtained the GitHub version from June 10th and attempted your reproduction steps. I was unsuccessful in crashing the engine. I tried ignoring the first welcome bubble that appears and going into a blueprint, that didn’t cause a reaction. I also tried exiting them both, which didn’t cause the editor to crash.

Have you been able to reproduce this more than once?

The crash was triggered by clicking on the flashing green icon that opens tutorials (next to the close/maximize/minimize buttons) in a blueprint window. Were you clicking on that after opening a blueprint?

If it’s not then I apologise. The crash happened a few times to me, which is why I thought to close the first tutorial bubble and the crashes stopped happening. Not sure where tutorial progress is stored though so I haven’t tried to reproduce it again since.

Hey,

You’re correct, I’ve clicked on the green flashing icon and the editor isn’t crashing for me. If you get a crash again, could you please attach the crash reporter to your next reply so we can look into this further?

Thank you!

Hey,

I have not heard from you in quite a while and for this reason, I must close this post at this time. However, if you could provide me with the crash that you’re receiving, or any additional information regarding this crash, I will be more than happy to investigate this further and submit a report to our developers.

Thank you!

I also was getting this over and over. I tried doing as you said (making sure to X out of the first popup before clicking tutorial in blueprint) and it is now OK. I sent the crash through the in-engine mechanism.

What version of the engine are you working out of that caused this crash?

I am using 4.8.3

Hey Graeme,

Can you verify that this is not happening in the release of 4.9? I have not ran into this recently.

Thanks!
