If merge vertices for clothing simulation is necessary and if Simulator can hold thickness

Hi @Style3D_CG_official

I’m currently designing clothing in Atelier for my character modeling and animation projects. I plan to simulate it in UE with Simulator. I have two questions about the process:

  1. For simulation in Unreal Engine, is it necessary to merge vertices, or can I work with a combined mesh that has separated vertices?
  2. Can the simulator handle the thickness of the cloth, or does it need to be thin for accurate simulation? I have some seamline situations , I 'm afraid it can not hold the thickness

Thank you for your assistance.

  1. You need to merge vertices, but it is not necessary if it is SMD format.
  2. The thickness of the fabric does not affect the simulation; the results will be the same regardless the fabric’s thickness.
