The game is about Chadwick, a red cat with a British accent. It starts in a cabin in snowy nature environment. Chadwick’s goal is to make it through woods and meadows and over mountains to reach the city and find a new home. He’ll meet other woodland animals and pets, communicate and live through adventures with and for them. He’ll also meet some human beings on his journey.
The project currently is in prototyping phase. Some of the key mechanics are already in place and progress is good.

Climb almost anything (but level bounds and your everyday filler tree)
Plans are that it’s less feeling like a platformer, but to make heavy use of IK and traces to naturally climb things like a cat would do. Scattered trees will be an exception, but there will be some manually placed and prepared for a special climbing mode that we have on our list.
I absolutely adore the story and premise of this game so far. It seems like a really wholesome game. Frolicking through a meadow as a cat just seems precious. Can’t wait to see more of the game!
PS: The cat knocking over the cup made for a good giggle.
I’m a little late to the party, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed browsing this thread so far! “If I Was A Cat” looks so immersive and so well made; how long have you been developing this project?
I’ve started in march and am relying on marketplace assets for the prototyping phase. Have teamed up with my best buddy for creating a business soon and also have two artists already that I’m paying for commissions for game artwork out of my own pocket. Megagrants would be one of our goals for funding the project once it’s far enough in prototyping in a couple of months (so I hope).
Thank you for the update! It’s great to hear that you’re progressing smoothly in developing “If I Was A Cat” in all areas. I also wanted to mention how cute the new additions to the #IfIWasACat family are, especially the puppy. It’s absolutely precious! And I have to say, your artist is doing a terrific job on the game artwork. They’re very talented!
