Hi,
I was thinking about how unused binds are (or could be) utilized in UEFN.
If you set maximum item slots to 0 then you carry only pickaxe,
freeing 3 binds.
One of them could toggle between first-person/third-person.
The second could toggle between right-hand-peak/left-hand-peak
(or right-handed/left-handed when in first-person).
The third could toggle free cam
(so that you can run forwards while looking backwards).
You could in theory free up 8 binds just by adding to the list
reload-on-empty, no sprinting, no build/edit/repair.
A complementary feature would be the ability
to replace the pickaxe with a different carry item.
Sorry for not checking the documentation first
if these features already exist.
Just wanted to share some late night thoughts
on this very special of kind of day.
No not yet. Tbh, I have not toyed with UEFN much at all. Tested it Day 1, but after getting error messages that both Octanes and Hover Boards (my two favorite items) were unsupported I decided to focus on Creative 1.0 until I UEFN comes a bit further in its process.
Thought a bit about the topic of intent (that of re-allocating unused binds) and concluded that just adding one re-mappable bind would be an amazing first step. I personally make it Sprint. If I my map needs sprinting I just make make the map smaller (similarly if I need mantle i just add stairs, mobility items or gravity).
I will dive deep into UEFN soon enough, but at the moment still waiting for publishing permission for my 1.0 maps, been waiting a week.
